Here’s what makes it special:

Origin and History:

• It’s a seedling of the ‘Haden’ mango, discovered in Bokeelia, Florida, and named after the Bailey brothers who owned the property where it originated.
• It is believed to be a cross between the ‘Haden’ and ‘Bombay’ mango varieties.
• The original tree still stands on Pine Island, Florida. 

Fruit Characteristics:

• Taste: Described as a “classic” mango flavor, similar to ‘Haden’ but sweeter and with a more complex taste, and completely fiber-free. Some describe it as tangy yet sweet.
• Size: Medium-to-large, typically over a pound and up to 1.5-2 pounds.
• Shape: Round with a barely perceptible beak, similar to its parent ‘Haden’.
• Color: Beautiful orange-red when sun-exposed. The skin can also vary from deep yellow to a red blush.
• Flesh: Bright orange, creamy, and completely fiberless.
• Season: Early-to-mid-season, ripening from May to July, with an extended window. Ripens in July and mid-August in Florida. 

Tree Characteristics:

• Growth Habit: Vigorous grower with a spreading and dense canopy. Some describe it as having a rounded symmetrical canopy.
• Disease Resistance: Appears to be very resistant to mango bacterial black spot.
• Cold Tolerance: Has a reputation for being slightly more cold-tolerant than other varieties. Some customers have reported it can tolerate temperatures as low as 26°F.
• Growing Regions: Thrives in coastal areas of Florida but can encounter fungus problems deeper inland. It is also grown in Southern California.

• It has a short shelf-life, which limits its commercial potential.
